Our Story
Founded on February 3, 1988, Cindy Tong’s pizzeria began as a humble establishment with a vision to serve the Owensboro community with only the highest quality of ingredients on “top heavy” pizzas. The original store opened its doors with a focused menu, offering a single pizza size and three sandwich options. This simplicity allowed Cindy to perfect her pizza and lay the foundation for what would become a beloved local institution.
For nearly 36 years Cindy continued to evolve her menu and offerings to meet the diverse tastes and preferences of her valued customers. Cindy had very exacting recipes with exact quantities for all ingredients which made the hand off so much easier!
On October 1, 2023, Eddie & Donna Goodwin along with Eddie’s mom, Faith McKay, became the new owners. Eddie & Donna had known Cindy for over 25 years, were huge fans of the food, and worked in the stores for over a year before becoming owners. Every good accountant will tell you to never open a restaurant, but the Goodwin family has a passion for serving the community that has been their home for so many years and serving great food to so many.
The new ownership truly is a family affair! Three of Eddie and Donna’s children have worked in the stores: Jonathan, Andrew, and Claire. Jonathan managed the west side for a time after training for 6 months with Cindy’s niece, Jenny Tong. Andrew, who was trained by Cindy, Jenny, and other 54 Pizza managers for over a year, now helps guide both stores. Claire is now the east side manager. Annika, Jonathan’s wife, was our social media and interior designer; she and Jonathan recently welcomed a baby, and Annika is now a full-time mom. Annika’s brother (and Jonathan’s brother-in-law), Brent Narhi, managed the east side in the past, and Brent’s daughter still makes our Rice Krispy treats. Family get-togethers consist of pizza-focused conversations as we strive to keep serving the Owensboro area the best pizza.
That family feeling goes beyond the Goodwins. Every member of our team is treated like family, and we hope you feel it the moment you walk through our doors.
